Gruffalo Trail

Happy end of half term lol!

During the past two weeks the boys and I have done a number of things/activities throughout, but one of my favourite outings was the Gruffalo Trail at Thorndon North Park in Brentwood Essex.

I highly recommend as it is completely free - (Just car park fee £1 & Trail Map 50p)

Its a beautiful forest and it made me realise how beautiful nature is!

This was a lovely family day out, the couple hours we were there the weather was lovely. The air is so fresh too, was lovely to get out of London. It so big and spacious, there were plenty of other families there too but it still felt like we had the place to ourselves.

As you follow the trail you have to find all the characters from the Gruffalo book, The mouse, the fox, the owl and the snake. Gruffalo's child is also there and of course Gruffalo himself is left to find last.

Throughout the trail there logs to sit on, benches, tents and shelters man made from branches and and some leaves for you to play and explore. we explored off the map too which was nice and the kids played a bit of hide and seek. It's also quite educational for them nature wise.

I made a pack lunch for once the trail had finished, they have a nice outdoor sectioned picnic tables for you to eat. Theres also a cafe/coffee shop on site too from which we picked up a takeaway cuppa to take with us when we set off.

This is a must do especially as it is completely free! Website below for more info and pics from our wonderful day. If anyone has any similar recommendations please comment below as summer is approaching and we would love more adventures like this! P.S I have posted a a second link for those who live outside London, there are many other places throughout the UK that do the same trail.
