Tower Bridge Family Trail & App

This week, we got invited to the tower bridge family trail which has launched a new app starting in May half term they wanted us to try out. Unfortunately my eldest was at school, but me and Zakky went and attended! We arrived an hour before opening so Zak had the entire tower to himself to try out the app, what a lucky boy!

While the tour of the iconic tower bridge exhibition has been there for a long time, packed with history and great views of London, the introduction of this cutting edge app is perfect for children. It states it is for 5-10 years but Zak is under the age bracket and like most children these days they can use technology with their eyes closed! so don't let that put you off from a great family day out.

The tour starts in the bridge's north tower. As you take the tour around the tower the app also works as a map, telling you where to go and what to look for. once you reach each point theres a fun activity for the kiddies to play. theres also fun facts on there too as well as there being many throughout the tour you have to look for and try out. After each task is completed on the app a sound is won for when you finish the tour and song is made.

Fun Fact: Did you know in 1952 a bus actually jumped over the opening bridge!!

each activity is designed for each point you are at so in this picture Zak is standing on the glass floor which is 42 meters above the thames, so at this stage the activity is a boat game for him to play as he stands over the water.

one of Zak's favourite tasks on the app was visiting the engine room. The app becomes your tool box and the kiddies need to figure out what tool fixes what helping them is the use of shapes from shovelling coal into the boiler and fixing bolts to help fix the engines.

The app is great because it interacts with the child as it understands movements, motions and sounds, which is perfect. When you start the tour your also given activity booklet with lots of fun stimulating puzzles and even a DIY boat with instructions to help the kids make. The booklet and app combined will leave you in the tour for a good amount of time so its not just an in and out trip. Definitely perfect for half term as thats one day planned for your week!

The tour and app definitely aids in the kiddies exploring and learning the history of tower bridge in an active, mind stimulating and fun way.

The tour has good entry prices and family ticket deals too. For more info visit the website for prices, directions and further info. Also don't forget to download the app!
